Email Marketing Terminology
Click Through Rate (CTR)
The ratio of users who click on a specific link to the number of total users who view your page, email, or advertisement.
Dedicated IP
A dedicated IP or dedicated hosting allows a server’s resources to be applied to specific sites and applications. In this way the resources can be allocated at the discretion of the person leasing the server space, not the hosting provider.
Sponsorship
Email sponsorships are opportunities to buy ad space in an email newsletter or to sponsor a specific article or series of articles. As an advertiser, you pay to have your ad inserted into the body of the publication.
Honey Pot
Honey pots are planted email addresses used by organizations trying to combat spam. When a spammer harvests emails, it identifies the sender as a spammer.
Personalization
Personalization means to add specific elements to your email that personalize consumers based on information previously collected. It may be as simple as addressing each recipient by name or referencing content unique to them.
List Segmentation
This is a list targeting a select audience or group of individuals for whom your email message is most relevant. This could translate to more targeted and relevant email campaigns as well as higher response rates and fewer unsubscribes and spam reports.
